Ahmad Shah Abdali invaded Punjab and India in 1747. A Mughal general Mir Mannu defeated him near Sirhind. However, Abdali did manage to capture Lahore and Delhi. Mughal emperor Alamgir II surrendered without a fight. Then Abdali captured the cities of Mathura and Gokul. He also fought off Sikh attacks on his way back to Afghanistan.
