This short documentary is a living portrait of my grandfather, Donald Lee Woodard, told through memory, movement, and place. Filmed during a ride through eastern North Carolina. This piece traces a life shaped by family, land, labor, and quiet perseverance.
As we travel past former homes, burial grounds, workplaces, and roads he once walked, my grandfather reflects on childhood, work, love, and legacy. His stories connect generations— to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—revealing how Black family history is often carried not in textbooks, but in voices, landscapes, and lived experience.
This film is produced Rto family, to place, and to the power of remembering out loud.
