In the light of Makara Sankranti, this talk will review the event of Uttarayana, its meaning and significance from an astronomical, ayurvedic and philosophical perspective. It will also discuss Sun worship, its characteristics from the Rigveda and Purana and rituals based on narratives from ancient texts and folk traditions. A very important historical phenomenon observed worldwide.
About the Speaker: Prof. Gauri Mahulikar is the Academic Director of Chinmaya International Foundation, Kerala, India. A researcher in the Vedic literature, student of Vedanta and a passionate lover of Sanskrit literature, Prof. Mahulikar has participated in many National and International Conferences.
