This is a very common problem for the Dewalt DCD796 brushless drill spacificly.
Normaly happens when someone uses the hammer mode function for masonry.
The gear housing js only made from plastic and cannot handle the hammer mode.
It normally melts the plastic housing, but in this case, it broke the hammer selector lever.
A full gearbox stripdown is needed to repair this problem, and the chuck needs to be removed.
