After work yesterday, I managed to travel with Chiltern Railways yesterday to Oxford with Class 68 numbered 68015 "Kev Helmer" at the front and Driving Van Trailer numbered 82302 at the rear as part of set AL04. It was operating 1T54 as the 1818 to Oxford calling at Bicester Village, Oxford Parkway and Oxford. I find the plug doors on the Chiltern Railways Mk3s more interesting than the sliding doors found on the CrossCountry, GWR and ScotRail HST Mk3 carriages.
Oyster and contactless are not valid on this service due to it skipping West Ruislip and High Wycombe.
On the Chiltern Mainline, the furthest you can use oyster and contactless pay as you go is West Ruislip. The furthest you can use contactless (but not oyster) is High Wycombe, although that has since been extended to Princes Risborough (as well as Monks Risborough, Little Kimble, Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway) as of 14th December 2025.
