As healthcare providers we have the important task to diagnose periodontal disease and create a patient-specific treatment plan for our patients. In 2017 the periodontal classification was revisited, and a new one created to reflect the emerging scientific evidence related to periodontal and peri-implant diseases. This new classification was designed to help us diagnose, manage, and create a communication tool to help us effectively correspond with our patients and colleagues. Although the classification has been in our hands for many years, how many of us have implemented this new classification into our practice?
