Apparently I have to give YT my ID to include links in the description, and that isn't happening. If you want my TMX (Trackmania Exchange) page, search for btx0 or my user id: 171108. Otherwise in game, look for "wet wood minis 1" in the club campaigns section. The campaign has a Rabbids icon. Also if the video is still super compressed looking, that's on youtube as it looked great before uploading. I have no idea how to fix that.

I've been building these maps on and off for the past couple of months, and realized how satisfying some of them are to watch, so I decided on throwing the replays into a video for fun. All of these tracks are under 20s, have slightly hunted ATs (usually 20 mins to an hour), give 100% wet wheels, and use a lot of custom wood blocks to give long, clean, and flowy feeling turns. The building part is generally one to two hours including my weird scenery.
If you're like I was 5 months ago and had no idea how to drive wet wood, I'll break down a few of the things you might notice in these runs.
First of all, the car usually wants to be in two states - pointed straight ahead, or sliding at a fairly specific angle. Any other state generally preserves less speed, therefore making your time worse.
However, the car only needs to be perfectly straight if you are below 3rd gear or about to gear up. I don't know the exact speed, but somewhere in gear 3, the car is able to speed slide, which is why I often angle the car slightly to the side. If you look at the skid marks, you should ideally see them connected when the car gears up, and just barely separated if I am going straight for more than a split second. Of course not always, as it depends on the individual track and also if my run was good lol. You can see examples of this all throughout track 24. Right before the loop, I snap the skid marks together to gear up and then instantly go into a speed slide.
Another thing I wanted to mention is getting some of your wheels into the air. I have no idea why, but this car preserves more speed/accelerates better when you are touching the ground with less than 4 wheels. If you have no wheels on the ground, you can't accelerate at all which is bad, but otherwise, the less wheels the better. This is why on some banked turns, you can see me intentionally taking an inside line to get the car on one wheel. This also applies during engine off, which is why I'm not sure if the acceleration is actually faster, or if the car is simply keeping more speed. A good example of a one wheel is the start of track 9.
I should also mention that if you release acceleration with water wheels, the car does not decelerate like it usually does. You also cannot brake like normal. However, if you break when the car is on less than 4 wheels, it can sometimes help keep your wheels suspended for longer, therefore giving you more speed. Incredibly counter intuitive. A great example of this is the second turn of track 21.
There's more I could mention with wet wood, but I'll cut the yapping for now. I'm certainly not the best at this style, but I would say it's the only style I am good at. The rest I am above average at best.
I will likely continue to make more of these tracks as it is very fun, but only if I can come up with interesting routes and ideas. If I make it to 50, expect another one of these videos.
