Sesame Street: Elmo´s get set to read

Elmo's in a library of magic books! He is your child's friend and companion as they explore the books in the library, and learn the reading basics. Each book in the library leads to a scene where one of the Sesame Street Muppets welcomes you into a reading activity. Whether your child wants to practice rhyming with Zoe in the poetry book, or cook up some words with Cookie Monster in the recipe book, Elmo will always be there--providing encouragement and help when needed. Six activities built into six adventure books reinforce letter-sound recognition, word-object relationships, word building, consonant blends, rhyming and speech-print relationships.


The Reading Basics Disk has three levels of difficulty which can be chosen separately for each activity. Levels can be changed at any time by accessing the level-changing icon in the lower right of the activity screens. The Reading Adventure Disk can be played on Easy or Hard level. The three different levels allow children to gradually master skills at their own pace and individual level of understanding. If your child successfully answers three questions in a row without the aid of a hint, she will automatically advance to the next level. If your child gets three questions wrong consecutively, the program will automatically begin offering questions from the previous level.
or it can be viewed in "Read to Me" mode, which requires no mouse or keyboard input.


The History Mystery
Elmo and Sherlock Hemlock, the world's greatest detective,
are in an Egyptian chamber preparing to solve the History Mystery and unlock the secrets of King Nut by completing three words in a word family.
When the words are completed, the great stone doors open, revealing a guest Muppet who reinforces the word family.

Super Grover, Comic-Hero
Elmo enters a comic book page to find Grover attempting to perform heroic deeds by rescuing something.
Your child's challenge is to make a word to help Grover discover what he must rescue.

Beam Me Up, Up, Up
Elmo reveals the Martians' mission: to collect things from the planet using their transporter.
When your child correctly selects the appropriate object, it will beam out of the transporter to a scene where the Martians applaud their new-found object.

Cooking with Cookie
Cookie Monster is a chef preparing food in the kitchen.
For instance, Grover wants a PIE. Cookie explains that to make a pie, he needs three letters.
The challenge is to find the correct letters on the frying pans to make the word and prepare the recipe.
Elmo asks for the letters by name, in sequence. When the word is completed, Cookie devours the food and a new round begins.


Zoetry Poetry Cafe
Zoe is having a poetry reading and Elmo is excited because he loves rhyming and gets to accompany her on the bongos.
Zoe recites her unfinished poem and it is up to your child to complete the rhyme by clicking on one of the game objects sitting on the tables.

Elmo's Wild Kingdom
Elmo is in a nature book. Each page of the book has a different scene with a simple one-sentence caption describing an element of the scene.
The caption is missing one word. Children choose the appropriate word to complete the sentence.
