ASMR Watches (soft speaking, unboxing, detailed hand movements)

I very, VERY seldom buy things for myself. Like, seriously, almost never. But I had a big birthday last month. So, in a rare moment of self-appreciation, I bought a couple of new watches. Nothing extravagant - just a couple of chronographs to compliment the watch I’ve been wearing for the last year or so.

Although I’m not a watch collector or know a great deal about them, I’ve always enjoyed wearing a timepiece. With a cell phone in everybody's pocket, I suppose a wristwatch is more about style than convenience or practicality these days, but that seems to help me appreciate them even more.

The new watches got me thinking about other watches I used to wear, and I dug some of them out for a soft-spoken show-and-tell to go along with the two unboxings. There’s nothing expensive, rare or collectible here (heck, three of them were gifts from my workplace, since I’ve been there forever ;-). If anything, the watches show a bit about how my tastes have shifted over the years. I favor largish chronographs these days, so the watches from my past seem very small to me now, like toys.

At the end of the video, I talk about the differences between and all-quartz chronograph movement and a hybrid "mecha-quartz" movement. I also explain how to use the two scales that you sometimes see on chronographs, the tachymeter and telemeter scales.
