The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case expects crucial evidence — including CCTV footage and witness statements, from Singapore Police within the next 10 days.

The 52-year-old Assamese icon, known as the “first true rockstar of Assam,” tragically died on September 19, 2025, while swimming near Saint John’s Island, Singapore. Though initially declared an accidental drowning, fresh allegations from his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami suggested a conspiracy and poisoning plot involving his manager Siddharth Sharma and event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta.

The SIT, led by Munna Prasad Gupta, recently returned from Singapore after a series of high-level meetings with local authorities. A second post-mortem, ordered by the Assam government following widespread protests, was conducted before Garg’s state funeral in Guwahati.
