Pete Aardema and Kevin Braun, two talented old school engine builders recently made noise in the automotive world with their creation of a remarkable homemade 5-liter V12 engine. The engine took over 2 years to build. The new V12 engine design produced an impressive 661 horsepower on the dyno at 9,400 RPM, showcasing their engineering prowess.
On the first shakedown run at El Mirage on May 17, 2025, Driver Scott Goetz powered their new V12 to an astonishing 219.4 MPH, setting a new land speed record. This impressive feat was achieved right out of the gate, highlighting not only the power and efficiency of their V12 but also their ability to tune and perfect the setup for optimal performance on the track. Their achievement is a testament to their dedication, creativity, and skill, marking a new chapter in homemade engineering triumphs in the land speed racing community.
