The little things, done right, and consistently add up to big things. Simply checking your systems on a daily basis. Recording that data in a log and reviewing regularly can help to identify small problems before they become a big one. Take for example a stack temperature. An upward trend in a stack temperature would be a possible indicator of improper water treatment, scale accumulation on the boiler tubes, sooting, or a combination of those things. Either way, it is a trend that is headed towards ruining the boiler if not corrected. Monitoring daily, and performing the proper boiler blowdowns will give plants extended life, and increased reliability and efficiency.
