Sanding the guitar body and using a technique called raising the grain to achieve a better final finish. This involves applying water to the surface after sanding to 240grit which makes the ends of the grain swell, lifting them from the surface. You then sand again to remove them.
Process is repeated several times before the final sanding at 320grit. This leaves the surface smooth and ready for finish to be applied.
