Ever wonder if you can find fish on a lake you’ve never been to before? In this episode of Angling Spiders, I’m exploring Lake of the Prairies in Manitoba for the very first time! This massive prairie reservoir is home to walleye, pike, rock bass, whitefish, and perch—and I’m determined to track some down.
Armed with my trusty kayak and a bottom bouncer rig with a nightcrawler, I start in the 20–24 ft depth range along the dam, searching for structure and baitfish. It’s a foggy, calm morning and the lake is stunning—but will I actually find fish?
If you’re planning a fishing trip to Manitoba or want tips on finding fish in unfamiliar waters, this video will give you a clear, practical approach.
