Preserving seeds and Indigenous crops is at the heart of sustainable agriculture.
A group of young people came together to create this participatory film in Pungro Village, in Nagaland, Northeast India.
Since the introduction of modern agricultural practices, which control and commodify seed distribution, pest infestations have increased, and local seed preservation has weakened.
Indigenous elders explain that through the revival of Indigenous practices and traditional planting sequences, valuable seed would be better preserved. Traditional techniques are documented in the film. For the elders, seeds are our true source of survival, especially in times of famine.
