The flume opened as the Log Flume at Alton Towers in 1981, and was re-branded and re-themed for 2004 as "The Flume", sponsored by Imperial Leather. Originally the long winded section of the ride known as "middle earth" between the first and second drop had a dinosaur theme.
After the Flume was re-branded in 2004, the boats were themed as bath tubs instead of Logs and featured quacking noises, ducks and showers throughout the ride, as well as a cheesy theme tune. The Flume featured three drops, one of which was in the dark.
The Flume closed in October 2015 at Alton Towers and it has been confirmed by the park that The Flume will remain closed for 2016 and be removed in due course.
