First it all started in Madinah Mosque in Arabia 1,400 years before, initiated by Allah's Final Prophet and the Greatest Prophet and the Leader of all Prophets, Humanity, Genies and all the universe in this world and next permanent world.


In the early days of Islam, there was no prescribed way of telling people that the time for Prayer had commenced nor was there any means to call the Muslims to the mosque for congregational Prayers.

Allah Almighty's final Prophet Hazrath Muhammed (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammed)

Prophet Hazrath Muhammed (S) could have directly made a supplication to Allah to guide them as to by what method, Muslim community for ever call the believers to come to prayer at the five times daily fixed prayers of Islam to worship only One True God Allah? Allah guided them to do this through true dreams shown to the Companions of Prophet Muhammed (S). As you know Hazrath Isa Bin Maryam (Alayhissalam) or Jesus in English had his own disciples.

He sought counsel of them and asked his Companions as to what should be done to call Muslims to the mosque for congregational Prayers. One morning, Hadrat ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Aziz(ra) approached the Holy Prophet(sa) and related to him a dream which he had had the night before. He had seen someone announcing the Prayer time and calling people to the mosque for the congregational Prayer in a loud voice. Hadrat ‘Abdullah then related the words of the Adhan which he had heard in the dream. They were as follows:

A comprehensive analysis is as follows: There are total 7 phrases in the Arabic Azan or Adhan. They start with "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar" and end with "La Ilaha IllAllah".

'Allahu Akbar' is reiterated four times, emphasizing the greatness of God. The phrase 'Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah' is stated twice, affirming the fundamental Islamic belief that there is no deity but Allah. The phrase 'Ashhadu anna Muhammad-ur-Rasulullah' is also repeated twice, proclaiming that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. The phrase 'Hayya `alas-Salah' is mentioned twice, encouraging individuals to attend prayer. The phrase 'Hayya `alal-Falah' is reiterated twice, inviting individuals to pursue success, which is attained through prayer. Furthermore, during morning prayers, the phrase 'Assalatu khairum-minan-naum' (Prayer is better than sleep) may be included.
