Fletcher makes repairs to his noisy Maytag MDB9959SKZ, ultimately replacing the pump assembly part W11416363 (a.k.a W11416362)
Our Maytag MDB9959SKZ 0 dishwasher was making a loud grindy noise during the wash/recirculation cycles. I'm sure it was quiet when we installed in four years ago, but it gradually grew louder and we had just gotten used to it. We recently visited a friend's house and heard just how quiet a dishwasher CAN be. First, we disassembled and cleaned the inner filters, but we did not find the cause of the noise. We disassembled the pump assembly and cleaned the impellers and filters, but that did NOT fix the noise.
Not wanting to make this a lifelong project by replacing just one part at a time, I bought a COMPLETE replacement pump assembly. {Part #W11416363) The part was available on Amazon for around $210.
