MONEY MATH, PROFIT, & KEEPING ART IN THE CENTER
In this part of the course, we break down what realistic business budgeting looks like when turning your art into a product-based brand.
We use Holly as an example again:
She starts with just $235 to launch her first product—50 lip glosses featuring her fruit photography. By pricing each tube at $14.10, she can triple her investment and earn $705 in revenue.
After covering her startup costs, Holly walks away with $470 in profit.
From there, she:
Pays herself 10% for motivation
Splits the rest between business savings and reinvestment
Buys more inventory and runs $1–2/day ads to grow
The key? She keeps her art at the heart of the brand. Every lip gloss flavor has its own fruit photo, styled shoot, and themed marketing. She turns her visuals into storytelling—making the brand more than just a product.
This approach shows how small numbers can build big confidence. Holly’s not just selling gloss—she’s proving a concept. Once it works, she can scale with structure, systems, and storytelling already in place.
