Manned multicopter build part 14 and first part of the V3 build.
In order to reach my coffee-drinking-in-the-air-criteria I now abandon the gas engine multicopter and move on to a more conventional electric design.
45-50kg craft, 35kg LiPo 70kg pilot 19-20kW in hover 10-15min+ duration. 76xElite 5010 274kV with Afro 20A HV controllers. 8S system voltage. 5x Naza lite flashed to v2 software.
OK. Just to clarify things; the new electric man carrying multicopter is an attempt to build a "simple DIY" failsafe (rather than redundant) vehicle.
The Idea is to build 5 COMPLETE multirotor systems mounted on a single frame with the biggest concern being short circuits ( which might cause structural failures or cause catastrophe burning battery chain reactions) and how the five FC will work together over time since there is no custom code to guide them in the odd task. The system will most likely fly fine with one FC lost (16 motors out, and might still land safely with two FC failures (32 motors out) if the weather is calm and you are not at the end of your flight with the battery voltage running low....Single ESC failure or a propeller flying off would probably not even be noticeable.
What I fear; the scenarios I have not thought of yet. .So please comment and suggest a crash scenario!
