In this video, we're doing something a little different. After a bunch of requests we decided take a good look at how to make jigs that can be used while jigging for a wide variety of species. These particular jigs may be referred to as speed jigs due to the often fast paced retrieval that is used to entice the targeted species. These jigs can however been altered in design and be fished a lot slower. Common species targeted with these jigs are dogtooth tuna, amberjack, yellowtail kingfish, but also fish like giant trevally, bluefin & yellowfin tuna, Napoleon and a whole lot of other reef and pelagic species fall victim to these things. Since this style of fishing tends to cause a painful amount of lost tackle and these jigs (as simple as the design may be) tend to not be very cheap, we wanted to show you how to save a good couple of bucks, making these jigs. The average cost of the lures made, depending on the jig weight/size is about $4.00. Reminder! Please, always use breathing and eye protection while working with hot lead. Always work in a well ventilated area. Never cool hot lead down with water!
