Great Ride To Work, Butttt What happens when you neutral safety switch acts up on the way home?

The ride to work was great as you can see.... But from the time I started the bike to go home something was wrong! I learned later that it was my neutral safety switch. Right now it's intermittent but I'm changing it out anyway.

Here is a little info from my research.

If the neutral light stays on constantly on a 2023 Harley-Davidson Road Glide, even when the bike is not in neutral, here are the most common causes:

1. Faulty Neutral Switch
Most common cause.

The neutral switch is located on the transmission and detects when the bike is in neutral.

If it fails, it may continuously signal that the bike is in neutral.

Fix: Replace the neutral switch (fairly inexpensive part, moderate labor).

2. Wiring Issues
Short circuit: A short in the wiring harness connected to the neutral switch can cause the light to stay on.

Damaged or corroded connectors: Moisture, wear, or pinched wires could send false signals.

Fix: Inspect wiring from the switch to the ECM or indicator light. Repair or replace damaged wires.

3. Faulty Instrument Cluster or BCM (Body Control Module)
Less common, but a malfunctioning cluster or BCM could interpret or display the wrong signal.

Fix: Run diagnostic tests using a Harley-Davidson digital technician tool or a code reader to check for faults.

4. ECM/Software Glitch
In rare cases, a software glitch or firmware issue may cause the indicator to stay lit.

Fix: Updating or reflashing the ECM might help (dealer may need to do this).

How to Diagnose:
Check Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):

Turn the ignition switch on (but do not start the engine), then hold the odometer/trip button.

Look for any fault codes related to the gear position sensor or BCM.

Test the Neutral Switch:

Use a multimeter to check continuity when the bike is in and out of neutral.

Or temporarily disconnect the neutral switch to see if the light goes off
