In this first installment of a two part video along the Hudson Shores, we head to the scenic west shore of the Hudson River to capture rail action along CSX’s River Subdivision. Once home to the historic West Shore Railroad, this busy main line still carries a diverse mix of freight today.
Throughout the day, we catch multiple CSX trains of all types—intermodal, manifest, autoracks, and more—as well as a visitor on the Hudson: a BNSF-powered train making its way up the river shore. With the Hudson Riiver as a backdrop and constant freight action, the River Subdivision proves once again why it’s a favorite spot for railfans.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll cross over to the east side of the Hudson to follow Metro-North’s Hudson Line, rich with history and scenic locations.
