The owner of this machine brought me his machine because he heard a loud hammering noise coming from his welder. At first he thought the engine threw a rod, but he found that the exciter rotor would start pounding the inside of the exciter stator a few seconds after starting the engine. I'll try to add the video he sent to me into this one later. Please note the test I am doing here is using 120 volts AC from the wall to power an open Variac thru a rectifier to make DC voltage to power the rotor. YES, THIS IS DANGEROUS! Don't try this at home.
