Scientific Tornado Probe Deployment - Iuka, Kansas

Video from our scientific research TORNADO PROBE that was deployed Sunday night in Kansas!

We compiled every frame of the tornado that was illuminated by the lightning from the probe that was deployed just north of Iuka, KS, a town a little north of Pratt, as it crossed over Highway 281.

Based on survey damage reports, the tornado would have been roughly EF-1 with around 100-mph winds at the time it passed around 1,015 feet to the south of the probe. Highest rating of an EF-3 was in its earlier stage.

This tornado would eventually track north of Highway 61, passing near the communities of Preston, Turon, and Langdon to when it crossed in front of us again on Highway 50 near Plevna, KS.
