Retired owner-operator Shawn Wright never lost his passion for trucks, as the 1968 Peterbilt 358A featured here makes clear.
Wright acquired the truck about three years ago after one of his sons reached out to the previous owner. They were told the owner didn't want to sell it, but that he'd trade for it, so they got it in exchange for a three-horse stock trailer.
Just about everything Wright has added to the truck since he bought it, he's either made, borrowed or traded for -- the visor and rear fenders being the only exceptions.
The truck was on display at the invitation-only 2024 Peterbilt Pride & Class truck show and parade, held in October at the manufacturer's plant in Denton, Texas: https://www.overdriveonline.com/custo...
It wasn't an easy road for Wright to make the show. After the original 262 Cummins blew just a week before the journey to Denton, Wright figured he'd never make it there, yet a Big Cam 400 replacement by Old Iron Trucking got him to the parade -- no A/C, no power steering, no radio, but it ran. There's more to that story in the video.
