Keep the lag in your wrists for purer golf shots

What is lag in golf? Lag is quite simply the angle formed at your wrists between your club and your arms. The more you hinge your wrists, the more you create lag. Essentially, it means that the clubhead will lag behind the wrists, i.e., that the wrists will reach the level of the golf ball before the clubhead will.
Why is lag important? Lag is crucial in order to produce clubhead speed, otherwise that speed is limited by how fast you can rotate your shoulders and hips. You need to keep that lag until impact with the ball otherwise the energy is lost on the way in the downswing, resulting in poor golf shots that don’t go the full distance. So remember to keep that lag and don’t flick your wrists too soon on the downswing for better golf shots.
