On November 6, 2025, PIA flight PK859 from Lahore to Jeddah faced a cockpit windshield crack mid-air. The Boeing 777-300ER (AP-BMS) was diverted safely to Karachi, where all passengers and crew remained safe.
According to PIA officials, the issue occurred due to wind-shear pressure and not a bird strike. It was a precautionary landing, not an emergency. The damaged aircraft was inspected in Karachi before passengers were flown onward to Jeddah.
