=============================
I got this 1950s Leica IIIF in very bad condition. From the looks of it, it hasn’t been serviced yet. All necessary repairs and restorations were done and now it went back to life. The film advance now feels super smooth, the shutter has a very quiet sound and the size is so compact. This is now my best camera in my collection.
Partnered with a not so lovable Industar 50, I can easily keep it inside my jacket pocket when collapsed. Surprisingly, the lens performed well. It is very sharp even wide open at f3.5. I think I just got lucky with my copy since I got it in near mint condition. What I love about soviet lenses is the swirly bokeh it produced giving the photos a very distinct character (like the Helios 44m4 for my Pentax Spotmatic).
One drawback of having a Barnack Leica is the slow pace of taking a photo. This camera system is slow and not for everybody. The system got improved by Seitz by introducing the M series. However, this is a very good starting point to Leica system considering the budget.
I brought my camera to this lovely place of Bukidnon, southern part of the Philippines. We had a gloomy weather which is perfect for me.
I developed and scanned the film at home, converted in Lightroom using Negative Lab Pro plugin. I scanned using my Canon 6D and a Canon 100mm macro lens.
