It is narrated on the authority of Mu'adhbin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) prayed one day and then lengthened it. When he greeted us, we said: Have you prayed long prayers today? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: I have prayed a prayer of fear and hope. I asked Allah Almighty for three things for my ummah.Allah Almighty gave two things, and denied one. I asked Allah not to impose any enemy on my ummah. Allah accepted this prayer. I asked Allah not to drown and kill my ummah. I accepted the prayer, and I asked Allah not to let my ummah fight among themselves, so Allah Almighty did not accept my prayer.
