From Temple to the Synagogue: Absence and Presence begins in Jerusalem, at the cross-roads of Asia, Africa and Europe, the birthplace of the first monotheistic religion, Judaism.
From Jerusalem the film travels to the synagogues on the island of Djerba in Tunisia, where places worship echo the architectural plans of a mosque.
On the Iberian Peninsula, the Inquisition managed to destroy nearly every synagogue, the survivors found in Cordoba and Toledo, are exceptional.
