Curious about the results of pairing an old Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 lens with my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, I conducted a test. Utilizing a Viltrox EF-M2 II adapter, I accounted for the crop factor, effectively transforming the lens into a 120mm equivalent. The footage reveals a distinctively dreamy, soft, and almost ethereal image when shot wide open at f/1.2, f/1.4, and f/2. While I found f/2.8 to be more practically applicable, the unique, dreamy aesthetic is undeniably appealing for creative applications. Noticeable violet fringing is present, which, while potentially undesirable to some, I believe contributes to the lens's character.
