Flint overhears Sam talking on the phone and thinks she’s moving away. He finds a way to stop her from moving…by stopping her from moving. He uses the Flint Lockwood Statuizer to turn Sam into a statue. However, being friends with a statue just isn’t the same, so he turns Sam back by setting the Statuizer to de-statuize. They tussle over the Statuizer and hit the statue of Sal the Sardine in the harbour, de-statuizing it! Sal, who has watched over the town for decades, knows everyone’s secrets and starts blabbing them around town. When he reveals the Mayor’s secrets, Shelbourne tells Flint and Sam they have to get rid of Sal. They lure Sal out to his island pedestal by throwing him a fake birthday party, and pop out of the cake at the last minute with the Statuizer, freezing Sal once again.

Set as a prequel to the two Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movies, the series focuses on the adventures of Flint Lockwood and Sam Sparks as best friends in high school. While Flint wants to be a successful inventor, Sam longs for fame as a reporter.
