A short collection of shots of my little Atlas 7B metal shaper, a vintage machine from the 50's. Yes, it's missing a few original parts here and there, but she works great despite her age.

2/21/13 Update: I have received a lot of very nice comments about my Atlas Shaper and this video, for which I am very grateful. No doubt, some of you see the 9" SouthBend lathe in the background. I've also done a video or two of it as well. These were my Dad's machines, and I couldn't let them get away from me when he passed on. I learned how to run a lathe when I was 15 or so on this very machine. It's been rebuilt a couple of times, and I still use the heck out of it! (By the time I got into Metal Shop class in Jr. High, I could already cut threads on a lathe, where most others were simply making bracelets out of 1/2" aluminum strap.

I have designed and trying to finish a camera dolly (powered) designed specifically for large-format (pro) video cameras. This has taken every bit of 2 years to get it finished. Anyway, I shot some early demo footage in my garage using this dolly, and you can get more of a glimpse of my garage workspace and work benches. (Beleive me, it doesn't look this neat most of the time...all of the crap is behind the camera!).

The engine seen in this video is a 1954 Ford/Mercury flathead V8, part of a project car for a VERY rare car called the "Venus". (If you're a gear head, you might want to check out my blog page:

Also on this "demo" are some close-ups of my American made Fender Stratocaster. I don't play it much; I just don't make the time...but I just like having it around (guitars and classic cars...what could be better?!!). It came from Fender with a white pearl pick-guard that I thought was simply awful. I replaced it with a tortoise shell pick-guard and it looks much better now. I was a bass-player from WAAAY back, and still have my first bass, at '69 Fender Precision bass (well, okay, my first bass was actually a Sears Silvertone...wish I still had it now!). But the bass was played hard and I sweated a lot. The original finish was gone in no time. Had it finsihed natural wood for awhile (looked crappy), as well as white. A few years ago, I had it professionally refinsihed in it's like-new 3-color sunburst....and it looks awesome!
