Chrysalis is a 3-movement work for English horn and piano by American composer Alyssa Morris (b. 1984). It tells the story of metamorphosis from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly, allowing the listener to experience whatever extra-musical associations with this poetic concept that they would like.
This recording is from my final Specialist Degree recital at the University of Michigan in Stamps Auditorium, November 21st, 2024.
