After 16 years - Is It Time To Upgrade My GU Patrol or NOT?

For over 16 years, my Y61 GU Patrol has been more than just a 4WD—it’s been a reliable adventure partner built for the rugged Aussie tracks.

As a one-owner vehicle, this GU Patrol has proven its legendary off-road pedigree time and time again, from the Victorian High Country to Cape York. Set up to suit my camping and 4WD lifestyle, it’s spacious, simple, and tough—unlike many of today’s high-tech 4WDs that may not last the distance.

With every scratch telling a story and my logo proudly featuring the iconic GU front, there's no modern vehicle that could replace the bond I have with this rig. If you're wondering why I’ve kept my GU Patrol so long, the answer is simple—it still gets the job done, and I’m not done exploring.

There's a lot of reasons why people just love owning a Y61 GU Patrol.
The brand is very well know for it's capabilities off road, and that cant be denied.
But, all in all i have setup up my Patrol exactly how i want it for camping and touring around Australia.

One day i will get my mighty Y61 Patrol to the most Northern tip of Australia.
That being Cape York.
I have been to the tip, but my Patrol didn't quite make it back in 2012, due to a mechanical issue.
So, a return trip one day will be on the cards.

I've had my Y61 GU Patrol since new, and 16 years later it's still my go-to for every off-road adventure. From the Vic High Country to Cape York, it's never let me down.
