This is my cancer story where I explain the side effects of chemotherapy and what it's like to fight cancer as a teenager.
My cancer treatment plan was a pretty common method of fighting off osteosarcoma in teenagers. My doctors utilized three chemotherapy drugs: cisplatin, doxorubicin, and high dose methotrexate. After about two months of chemo, my tumor was surgically removed by cutting open my leg and replacing the bone with a metal implant. I then went through another several cycles of chemotherapy to kill the rest of the cancer cells floating around in my body. I finished my treatment in July 2014 and I'm thankful that I have been cancer free since then.
I hope my story can serve as a resource for those of you who are going through chemotherapy and surgeries of your own. Stay strong and stay healthy!
