കേരള സർക്കാർ വിഭാവനം ചെയ്ത സിൽവർ ലൈൻ പദ്ധതിയും മെട്രോമാൻ ഇ. ശ്രീധരൻ നിർദ്ദേശിച്ച അതിവേഗ റെയിൽ പാതയും തമ്മിലുള്ള പ്രധാന വ്യത്യാസങ്ങൾ . 'സിൽവർ ലൈൻ തിരുവനന്തപുരം മുതൽ കാസർകോട് വരെയാണെങ്കിൽ പുതിയ പാത കണ്ണൂർ വരെയാണ് വിഭാവനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്'. സിൽവർ ലൈനിൽ 11 സ്റ്റേഷനുകൾ ഉള്ളപ്പോൾ പുതിയ പദ്ധതിയിൽ 22 സ്റ്റേഷനുകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
