The Audi museum mobile is an automobile museum of Audi AG in Ingolstadt , dedicated to the history of the company and its predecessors. The Audi museum mobile opened on December 15, 2000, at the same time as the Audi Forum Ingolstadt .
n the 23-meter-high, round glass and steel building, which is part of the Audi Forum Ingolstadt, around 100 automobiles , motorcycles , and bicycles, as well as other exhibits from the Audi , DKW , Horch , Wanderer , and NSU brands , are on display on an area of approximately 6,000 m². The building was designed by Gunter Henn , and the museum concept was developed by the design agency KMS.
The museum's permanent exhibition is divided into two levels, covering the pre- and post-war years. There are also changing special exhibitions and a museum shop. The exhibition is complemented by a technology gallery with exhibits that address topics such as materials science and engine technology. Separate sections are dedicated to the history of motorsport . The Auto Union Silver Arrows, the rally era, and the DTM and Le Mans victories are each presented with original vehicles.
Level 0
Visitors enter the museum via the “Piazza” of the Audi Forum Ingolstadt on Level 0.
Level 3
An elevator, in which the years digitally run backward, takes visitors to the top level. The tour begins in 1899 with the founding of Horch & Cie. Motorenwerke by August Horch . In 1909, the engineer founded the Audi factory in Zwickau , Saxony . Numerous vehicles from the founding brands Audi, Horch , DKW , and Wanderer are presented against the backdrop of the economic and social conditions of the time. The merger to form Auto Union AG in 1932, with the four rings as the company logo, is also explained.
Level 2
Post-war bodies, rally cars, motorcycles, and models from Audi's recent history are located on Level 2. The DKW F 89 L Schnelllaster from 1950 is the first vehicle produced by Auto Union GmbH after its relaunch in Ingolstadt. DKW's two-stroke history is documented on Level 2, from the DKW Meisterklasse to the DKW F 102 .
Level 1
Special exhibitions are presented on Level 1. The exhibitions change several times a year, focusing on design, mobility, and automotive history.
paternoster
The paternoster is visible from the outside. Up to 14 cars or motorcycles can move vertically on the technical structure simultaneously. The vehicles on the paternoster rotate at regular intervals.
