The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) within the College of Extended Education & Global Engagement at Cal Poly Humboldt (OLLI at Humboldt) was established in 2005 with the Bernard Osher Foundation. OLLI at Humboldt is an innovative program of specially designed short courses with no exams or grades, and a focus on learners who are aged 50 or better.
Julie Stewart earned her B.S. from Humboldt when she worked as an environmental educator at outdoor science schools across California. Since then, Julie has helped develop a variety of local educational programs, including outdoor experiences with Center Activities and afterschool learning opportunities at the Sequoia Park Zoo. Most recently, she taught middle school science before transitioning to a role in the Office of the Provost at Cal Poly Humboldt, where she continued supporting educational initiatives across campus. She is now pursuing her master’s degree in education, with plans to graduate in 2025. In her new role with OLLI, Julie is eager to support both members and instructors while working to expand access to OLLI programs for a broader range of community members. She brings a passion for strengthening programs and supporting lifelong learners to the thriving educational community at OLLI.
