Our laboratory received the ACHI PRO-SC rework station, a soldering station for repairing large PCBs like laptop motherboards or game console boards. It has an upper heater of 80 x 80 mm and 400 W power, and a bottom heater of 260 × 245 mm and 2 KW power, making the total power 2.5 KW.
The upper heater mechanics has been updated to be less massive and move more smoothly. It may move in all directions like the earlier model. The table design has also improved, making the movement smoother and more reliable. Standard thermocouple connector is provided with the device. You may now use any multimeter thermocouple. Automatic circuit breakers have replaced the standard power button, and the station cooling has been improved too.
The design of preheaters remained unchanged. You still have an option to switch heating elements on and off in pairs.
All controls are located on the front panel of the device, including START, STOP, COOLING, LIGHT, and UPPER COOLING buttons, as well as a thermocouple connector and thermal controller for setting the operation of bottom heaters and the programmable thermal controller for the upper heater.
The bottom heater controller has two displays, showing the current and preset temperatures, which can be changed by pressing the SET button and using the up and down buttons. The upper heater controller has 10 thermal profiles that can be edited and previewed, allowing for different temperature and time settings.
To start the desoldering process, the upper heater is set above the PCB with a 2 cm space, and the process can be started using the RUN button on the controller or the large green button on the front panel. The temperature rise of the bottom heater can also be observed, indicating the completion of the desoldering process. And done!
