Challenges when Going Towards 1000 Qubits I Quantum Technology User Meeting 2022

At the Quantum Technology User Meeting 2022, a high-level panel discussion was held on the topic "Challenges when going towards 1000 qubits" and was moderated by Zurich Instruments CEO Sadik Hafizovic. The panel featured a diverse set of members working with superconducting, spin and photonic qubits: Anna Stockklauser (Rigetti), Jan Götz (IQM), Stefan Filipp (WMI & TUM), Natalia Ares (Oxford) and Michael Förtsch (Q.Ant). The discussion compared the different platforms, shortcomings, bottlenecks and advantages of their respective approaches. The panelists also exchanged possible ways to benchmark different qubit architectures against each other and to what degree this makes sense with the current state of the qubit technologies. They then ended with an outlook at the roadmap for the next five years.
