POV simul rappel descent from the top of Fiddler on the Roof (10d) via Prince of Darkness on Black Velvet Wall in Red Rock Canyon's Black Velvet Canyon. 800-foot rappel completed in 24 minutes.
This POV footage documents a simul rappel descent - an advanced technique where two climbers descend simultaneously on opposite rope strands, counterbalancing each other. IMPORTANT: Simul rappelling is considered a high-risk technique that significantly increases danger for both climbers. Any loss of control, rope management error, or equipment failure affects both rappellers simultaneously. This technique should only be attempted by highly experienced climbers in specific circumstances.
Disclaimer: I am not a professional climbing guide. This video is for documentation purposes only and should not be used as instructional material. Simul rappelling involves substantial risks including but not limited to: rope slippage through anchors, catastrophic failure if one climber loses control, and increased anchor loading. Errors in this footage may be present that I was unaware of at the time.
Location: Black Velvet Wall, Black Velvet Canyon, Red Rock Canyon NCA, Nevada
