Alex's Story: IX Media didn’t start in an office. It started with a penny board, a $5 chocolate smoothie, and a promise I made to a friend when he called me in desperation for $5,000, money I didn’t have.

I got a call from one of my closest friends — one of my mentors. He needed $5,000. Bad. Instead of saying “sorry, I can’t” or “wish I could help,” I grabbed my skateboard and went business to business in my neighborhood asking if they had anyone handling their Facebook ads.

I skated door-to-door in 90-degree Chicago heat, pitching Facebook ads I barely understood, getting rejected over a dozen times, but nonetheless still showed up again the next day.

I was 16. No website. No clients. Just hustle.

That journey to getting my our first paying client took 10 months. I taught myself sales in my garage before school, skipped lunch to cold call solar companies, create magazine covers to grab attention, and DM’d 3,000+ brands in my winter break.

Eventually, one brand took a chance — not because I was polished, but because I cared more than anyone else. I made them free ads and started obsessively learning Klaviyo on YouTube — I realized it was one of the most underrated sales platforms in the ecom space.

A few weeks later, I created their first email, sent it, and it made a sale.

That moment — in a public library in a suburb of Chicago IL, staring at $30.99 in Klaviyo revenue — was when IX Media was born.

Today, we’re a fully built email & SMS marketing team helping eCommerce and CPG brands turn email into a true revenue channel.
