Dr. Li: When Periodontists tell you, you need ortho surgery, first, you probably search it on Google what it looks like and you get scared. Let me tell you why you shouldn't be scared of this surgery. When you come to my consultation I will show you in the picture how the procedure will be performed. Once you see these pictures you will understand that's not as invasive as you think. The scaling and the roof planning which is the deep cleaning you normally do whenever you see your general dental office. The only difference is I go a little deeper but nowadays, I have all those technologies such as laser treatment and also APRF treatment. When I use a laser it doesn't even requires a cut. When numb you up very well and basically, laser beam just goes to the gum and it removes all the bacterias. So it's a minimally invasive procedure. After the procedure, patients are not required to stay at home and not go to work, it's not like that.

Most of my patient generally doesn't take the pain medication I prescribed, if you still think ortho surgery is scary then there's a way to avoid it. When the periodontal disease comes to only a severe stage you need ortho surgery, don't get to the severe stage see your dentist every 6 months and just sometimes it's very important to ask your dentist if you have the periodontal disease when it's the very early stage we don't treat the periodontal disease with any type of ortho surgery we only treat non surgically, so you will be more comfortable.
