Paul Leonard Newman was born in Ohio (United States) in 1925.
After High school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps (Naval aviation) with the objective of becoming a pilot.
An eyes problem prevented him from his dream.
After dealing with the company his father in 1949 he decided to become an actor. He enrolled at the Actor's Studio in New York in 1953 and debuted on Broadway in Picnic.
1954 marked his film debut in "The Silver Chalice".
The film was unsuccessful and the Newman's performance was criticized.
But in 1956 he was able to redeem themselves through the unforgettable interpretation of the boxer Rocky Graziano in "Somebody Up There Likes Me".
Described as the most beautiful eyes in the history of cinema, the actor's career lasted 50 years, giving great performances.
Paul Newman with Montgomery Clift, Marlon Brando and James Dean portrayed characters rebels.
At the beginning Paul Newman was compared to Marlon Brando, thanks to his character and detachment from the "evil of life" that often absorbing psychological study of introspection at the Actor's Studio, was able to impose its qualities as an actor.
In his youth as in old age, retained its charm and its artistic qualities.
One of his major quality was the humor and great humanity.
He founded a food company specializing in organic products, whose proceeds are donated to charity.
Passionate about car racing, competed until 2004.
He was married with the actress Joanne Woodward.
He died in 2008 in Westport.
