This arrangement based on a “Wings Over Jordan” version, had been slightly altered by Bruce Thompson. Wings Over Jordan was an African-American choral ensemble based in Cleveland Ohio. The group was active from 1935-1978. They performed over CBS radio and was also known as the Negro Hour Choir. "Wings Over Jordan" was internationally know and considered one of America's finest at the time. One of the missions of the group was to help with race relations; and their audiences were always interracial during the Jim Crow era.
