Dry Brush Technique Utrecht 207 Size 10

These clips were taken from the full-length aspen tree painting art instruction video in the Master Oil Painting 6 Week Course.

These clips were used for a blog post describing a dry brush technique with the Utrecht series 207 Flat Synthetic Blend brushes.

I painted this alla prima, or all in one painting session, except for a few touch ups that I noticed were needed later.

My method of oil painting is not like the formula paintings Bob Ross created that so many artists around the world have come to love. My painting style is based on principles professional artists use like abstract color shapes, edge quality for greater realism, shadow and highlight, color theory or convincing color relationships and establishing correct values throughout the painting.
