Trying to remember rules is difficult if you’re never taught the logic behind them. Students are often told to “just multiply across” when multiplying fractions, but only teaching the operation doesn’t explain the logic for why the rule exists in the first place. In this video we’ll go over why we multiply across when multiplying fractions, and why some teaching methods don’t help students understand how it works.
