This Japanese maple is far from interesting but like everything in life you can try pull something to improve.
I’ve only seen this been done with one or maybe 2 branches in training videos. I needed 9 grafts and I don’t expect it to go perfect but I’ll be happy if half take… I’ll have to wait until fall to understand if the buds open, branches elongate, thicken and fuse. By that time if the elongating part (exit of the trunk) is thicker than the one on the opposite side, I’ll know it went well! Or not…
Anyway, the goal is to have an interesting thick trunk where I grafted and next spring airlayer the top of the tree (above last graft) and have 2 improved bonsai.
